Keith Noyahr assault : Identification parade cancelled

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Mt. Lavinia Additional Magistrate C.H.G. Liyanage today (August 20) decided to cancel the identification parade to identify the 09th suspect in the case filed over the abduction and assault on journalist Keith Noyahr, based on a request made by the counsel appearing for the defendant. The identification parade for today was cancelled as the Criminal Investigations Department did not produce a progress report on its investigations to court today. Senior Counsel Ravi Mathugama appearing for the defendant requested court to grant bail to suspect number 09, as the other 08 suspects in the case were also granted bail following their arrests. However, State Counsel Lakmini Girihagama leading the prosecuting presented facts against the granting of bail for the defendant. The Additional Magistrate said a ruling on granting bail would be delivered on August 23rd.
