Eid- ul - Adha Hajj festival falls today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Eid- ul - Adha Hajj festival is celebrated across the world today(August 12). The Hajj Festival aims to create equality and brotherhood. Eid – ul – Adha hajj festival takes places on the 10th day of the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar Dhul – Hajj, –which is the 12th and most sacred month of the Islamic year during which observant Muslims travel to the holy city of Makkah for hajj. President Maithripala Sirisena issuing his Hajj Message said that his festival of Islamic devotees coming from all over the world to worship God in a spirit of co-existence and harmony results in the discipline to live in equality with believers of other religions. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in his Hajj message says the main objective of the Hajj festival is to bridge the gap in society and to create equality and brotherhood.
