Colombo garbage taken to Aruwakkalu garbage site

COLOMBO (News 1st): The process of transporting garbage accumulated within the Colombo city limits to the Aruwakkalu garbage container started last night (August 8). The decision to transport garbage from Colombo to Aruwakkalu was taken due to the suspension of garbage being dumped at Kerawalapitiya since the 5th of this month. Colombo Municipal commissioner, Palitha Nanayakkara said that the garbage was taken to Aruwakkalu in 15 lorries last night (August 8). He further said that the garbage dumped in Colombo is due to be taken to the Kerawalapitiya exchange center to transport it to Aruwakkalu at noon today (August 9).  The locals have faced severe difficulties due to the garbage accumulated within the Colombo city limits for nearly four days.
