UPDATE (11.30am) – Speaker Karu Jayasuriya announced in parliament today that the motion of no-confidence against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen will be debated on the 18th & 19th of June despite opposition.
Colombo (News1st) – The party leaders meeting that was held today ended without a final decision on the date for the no-confidence motion (NCM) against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.
According to our parliamentary correspondent, the Government has suggested that the NCM be taken up on the 18th and 19th of next month. However, party leaders representing the opposition had opposed this move and had called for the NCM to be taken up on the 6th and 5th of June.
Parliament is due to convene at 10.30am today.
