COLOMBO (News 1st) - Raids in Mannar and Medawachchiya led to the discovery of over 225 kilos of Kerala ganja and three suspects.
Police stated that two suspects in a car transporting 132 kg of Kerala ganja from Medawachchiya to Anuradhapura were arrested at a roadblock in Madawachchiya (May 22). The raid was carried out based on a tip-off from Naval intelligence unit. The suspects are 48 and 52-year-old residents of Anuradhapura.
They are to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate court today(May 23).
Meanwhile, a stock of 93.07 kg of Kerala ganja was recovered from a private bus in Mannar. Police stated that the raid was carried out on a tip-off. The 33-year-old driver of the bus was arrested on suspicion.
He is to be produced before the Mannar magistrate court today.
