16 suspects arrested last night

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The police stated that 16 suspects were arrested following a special search operation carried out last night(April 24). Police media spokesperson, SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that one of them is suspected to be a member of a terrorist group. The arrest was made in Panadura-North following an investigation carried out by the Bandaragama Police. The Police added that the arrested person was employed as an Assistant Vehicle Inspector at the Gelanigama office in the Southern Expressway. Meanwhile, another suspect was arrested in Wattala along with walkie talkies. Three other suspects were arrested in Rakwana, Ratnapura. The police added that two suspects were arrested in Batticaloa and  Meegalawa. Several other suspects were also arrested from Teldeniya, Balangoda and Matale. Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara added that the arrested are subjected to further interrogations.
