Presidential Commission on Fraud and Corruption in State Institutions : Deadline extended for accepting complaints

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The deadline for accepting complaints on acts of fraud and corruption committed within state institutions between 2015 and 2018 has been extended to March 14th. A statement from the Presidential Commission of inquiry to investigate into acts of corruption and fraud in state institutions in 2015-2018 stated that the deadline was extended, taking into account the large volume of complaints being filed. It added, the commission had already received over 450 complaints, of which 270 have been handed over to the commissioners. Fifteen complaints out of the two hundred and seventy have been handed over to the Special Police Unit for preliminary investigations. The commission is led by the retired Supreme Court Judge, Upali Abeyratne.
