Title of 'Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka' conferred on Ven. Gallalle Ariyawansa Thero

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The ceremony to confer the title of 'Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka of the North Central Province' on Ven. Gallalle Ariyawansa Thero was held in the Buddha Mandapaya in Polonnaruwa this afternoon (March 03), under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. The service rendered by Ven. Gallalle Ariyawansa Thero, to the Buddha and Sangha sasana, was praised by President Maithripala Sirisena. The President presented the document conferring the title of 'Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka of the North Central Province', to Gallalle Ariyawansa Thero. The President noted that as a Buddhist country, Sri Lankans should be proud of the fact that Sri Lanka is the centre that spreads Theravada Buddhism to the whole world. This makes it absolutely necessary to protect the Sangha. "It is only by protecting the village and the temple that we would be able to move forward as a society" the President concluded.
