Navy assists to bring ashore injured fisherman

COLOMBO (News1st) - A Fast Attack Craft (FAC) of the Southern Naval Command rendered assistance to bring an injured fisherman on a multi-day fishing trawler to the Hambantota fisheries harbour for immediate treatment yesterday (February 16th). The multi-day fishing trawler, 'Sanka I’ had left for fishing from the Galle fisheries harbour on 07th February and this fisherman was injured during his work on the boat. The Navy was notified of the incident through the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Colombo. The Navy promptly directed a FAC patrolling in the vicinity to fetch the injured person. The FAC managed to spot the fishing vessel which was about 84 nautical miles off the Sangamankanda lighthouse. Naval personnel safely transferred the patient to the naval craft. Subsequently, he was taken to the Hambantota harbour and rushed to the Hambantota General Hospital for further treatment.
