Colombo (News 1st): The report on the the initial investigations carried out on Amal Perera and his son, Nadeemal Perera, have been handed over to the State Council of the United Arab Emirates. This was revealed by the lawyer representing the duo, attorney-at-law Shabdika Wellapilli.

Attorney Wellappili noted that the Dubai police stated that Amal Perera and his son Nadeemal Perera have been remanded till February 28th. He added that when he met the duo, especially Nadeemal Perera had insisted that he did not use any narcotic substances.

He went onto note that the public prosecutor informed him that he can file bail applications on behalf of these two individuals.

Meanwhile, attorney-at-law Udul Premarathna stated that investigations conducted reveal that 16 of those arrested in Dubai have been found to have not consumed any narcotic substances. He continued saying that Amal Perera, believes that there is a conspiracy against him.

The group was arrested along with narcotic substances at a hotel in Dubai on the 4th of this month. Quoting internal reports of the CID, the Daily Mirror published today that 13 police officers and 20 prison officers had maintained connections with underworld drug lord Madush and his affiliates.

The Daily Mirror also stated that investigations are currently underway to verify and determine the strength of these connections.
