Negligence and reckless driving: Cause of heavy injuries

COLOMBO (News1st) - Several people were injured in accidents that occurred in various parts of the country. A double cab belonging to the Hambantota Municipal Council collided with a motorbike at Siribopura along the Hambantota-Mattala main road. The driver of the double cab fled the scene following the incident. The person travelling on the motorbike was admitted to the Hambantota General hospital. He was later transferred to the Karapitiya teaching hospital for further treatment. Further investigations into the incident are underway. Tambuttegama One person was injured in an accident that occurred along the Anuradhapura - Padeniya road in Tambuttegama. The accident occurred when a truck transporting cement had veered onto a clock tower. Vehicular movement along the Padeniya road was hampered due to the accident. Pallebadda Four people were injured following an accident that occurred at Pallebadda, on the Ratnapura-Embilipitiya road. A bowser and a bus collided injuring four persons who were taken to the Embilipitiya district hospital for treatment. The bus driver was taken into custody by the Godakawela police. Gampola The body of a 65-year-old man was discovered along a road in Mariyawatta, Gampola.  The police suspect that the deceased had died in a motor accident. The deceased identified as A. H. M. Madani is a father of two. He had left for work. Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Gampola police.
