Custom unions threaten to intensify trade union action

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Customs officers association notes that if measures are not taken to amend the cabinet decision taken to replace the Former Director General of Customs within the day that trade union actions will be intensified. Assistant Secretary of the association Sudath De Silva said that they would intensify the current work-to-rule action into a strike action. He further noted that the government revenue is continuing to decrease as a result of their trade union action. Sudath De Silva added that all transportation associations will also refrain from the container transportation operations in support of the trade union actions.
