COLOMBO (News 1st) – On the fifth day of search operations into the disappearance of four-year-old Senuri Thisara of Karuwalagaswewa, Puttalam the mother of the child had made a startling revelation. Based on the mother’s statement the Police now believe that the child could have been pushed into the Kala-oya.
Based on a statement recorded from the mother the police and navy divers launched a search operation for the fifth consecutive day. Search operations were carried out in the Olumaduwa area of the Kala-Oya spanning 3 square kilometres.
The 21-year-old mother of the missing child, residing in Neelabamma, Karuwalawaswewa, Puttlam lodged a complaint with the Saliyawewa Police on the 29th of last month. Although search operations were immediately launched by the police they had failed to gather any information on her whereabouts.
Following the disappearance, the mother, the grandmother, the child’s step-grandfather and four others were taken into custody and interrogated.
