Colombo (News1st): The National Elections Commission states that a request will be made to the UPFA to propose a suitable candidate for the vacant parliamentary seat of M.L.A.M Hizbullah. Its Director-General M. M. Mohamed said the letter would be referred to the UPFA General Secretary tomorrow (January 7). The General Secretary of the Parliament had sent a letter to the National Elections Commission last Friday (January 4) informing of the vacant parliamentary seat following the resignation of MP Hizbullah. Accordingly, it will be gazetted once UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera submits an appropriate name. MP Hizbullah resigned from his parliamentary seat following his appointment as the governor of the Eastern Province.
