MPs dont need ministerial positions - Gamini Jayawickrama Perera

COLOMBO (News 1st) - At a time when the government is obtaining continuous loans to repay loan instalments and interest for earlier loans, Minister Gamini Jayawickrama made revelations on preparations to allocate Rs. 300 million for each ruling party MP. The revelation was made when speaking to the media after he assumed duties in his capacity as the minister of Buddhasasana and Wayamba Development. The Minister said that there is no need for them to work in hiding and that they work towards strengthening the MPs that remain with the UNP and its affiliated parties. He continued to say that initially a sum of Rs. 200 million was given for rural development and that now, they will be allocating a sum of Rs. 300 million for this purpose. Minister Jayawickrama noted that now the MPs don't need ministerial portfolios and that they could instead use the money given by the Government to work for the people. He noted that this money could be used to get closer to the people and strengthen the MPs position in the area.
