UNP supporters islandwide staged protests demanding that parliament be convened

COLOMBO (News 1st) - UNP supporters staged protests in various areas demanding the restoration of democracy in the country by convening parliament. A protest was staged opposite the Matara Bus Depot headed by UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera themed "Defeat conspiracy, protect good governance and move forward with the UNP" A protest was also staged in Boaththa, Bingiriya demanding parliament be convened immediately. This protest was joined by UNP MP Nalin Bandara. A protest organized by Akila Viraj Kariyawasam was staged in Kuliyapitiya today (November 04). UNP supporters, provincial council representatives and several others joined this protest demanding that democracy in the country be safeguarded. Meanwhile, another protest was staged in Nittambuwa today (November 04). Chandradasa Swarnalal, UNP Electoral organizer of the Attanagalla electorate and several other UNP supporters joined this protest. Another group of people staged a demonstration obstructing the Kataragama - Colombo main road to support the United National Party. The protest hampered vehicular movement in Ambalanthota along the Colombo - Kataragama main road. A protest was also staged in Thambuttegama to support the UNP.
