UPDATE : Estate workers call of protest

16.51 pm: The protests launched by estate workers demanding a daily wage of Rs. 1000 at the Galle Face Green has been called off for the day. However, a group of protestors are continuing their protest at the Galle Face green. Notably, this demonstration did not cause any inconvenience to the general public. In addition, the youth involved in the demonstration did not permit any political party representative to join in the demonstrations. All the demonstrators were clad in black.   Colombo (News1st): A demonstration is currently underway at Galle Face Green demanding the daily wages of the estate workers be increased to Rs. 1000. According to our correspondents, estate workers from many areas have joined in this demonstrations. The joint agreement on the estate workers daily wages has expired.
