Land deeds for people living in estates

COLOMBO (News 1st) - For the first time, President Maithripala Sirirsena has intervened to provide permanent land deeds to people living in estates. According to the President's Media Division, special attention was drawn towards the issues faced by the people living in estates during discussions with the government. President has also instructed the provincial governors to complete the return of the lands taken over by the security forces in the North and East to their original owners before December 31, 2018. The Head of State made these statements during the 2018 review of Provincial Councils which took place at the President's Office. Governors, Chief Ministers and Provincial General Secretaries and several other officials attended the discussion.
