FCID releases Shelby Cobra allegedly owned by Namal Rajapaksa

Colombo (News1st) - A luxury car (2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500) allegedly belonging to Namal Rajapaksa which was seized by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division was released today. The FCID seized the luxury car on the 5th of September 2016 from a vehicle yard belonging to a person by the name of Sudesh Weerasuriya. Namal Rajapaksa had purchased this vehicle in 2010 and he had used it for 6 years and sold it to another person. Police Investigations revealed that the vehicle was sold to a person by the name of W.M Shanthi. Her son accepted the car today. Attorney-at-Law Premanath C. Dollawatta speaking to the media revealed that the car had been imported to Sri Lanka by Namal Rajapaksa using a tax-free permit he received as a member of Parliament. He went onto note that the vehicle was eventually sold to the mother of Harshana Silva and that the Police have been unable to bring forward a single suspect related to the case.
