Colombo (News1st) – State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene has condemned false statements being made on National Security.
Issuing a communique the State Minister said such misleading statements on the decisions taken by the three-armed forces on national security, are being made by those who seek to make political gains. He says over the recent past such groups have engaged in futile attempts to disseminate false information in society on national security.
The State Minister stressed that the government considers national security as a top priority adding that since 2015 those who are greedy for power and have other ulterior motives have made attempts to spread false information on national security especially with regard to the North and East.
Wijeywardene noted that the three armed forces have strengthened all strategically important camps and only releases lands to the public following a thorough security assessment. The statement goes on to note that state-sponsored military exercises are taking place continuously and more financial provisions have been allocated for this purpose.
