Development officer arrested for soliciting bribe of Rs. 60,000

Colombo (News1st) - The Bribery Commission arrested a Development Officer today for soliciting a bribe of Rs 60,000.
The suspect who is attached to the Alayadivembu Pradeshiya Sabha in Akkaraipattu had attempted to solicit a bribe to expedite the release of money for a road development contract.
On an earlier occassion, the suspect had accepted Rs 15,000, he was arrested when he attempted to obtain the remaining sum of money.
