28 arrested following STF drug raid in Mt. Lavinia

COLOMBO (News 1st) - 28 individuals, both male and female, were arrested in Mount Lavinia on Sunday (Aug 19th) following a raid conducted by the Police Special Task force. The suspects have been arrested on charges of possession of narcotics. The group was arrested at a Police roadblock that was set up in close proximity to a hotel in Mount Lavinia. The arrested suspects had been en-route to a party at the hotel. According to the STF the suspects were in possession of ICE also know as Crystal Meth, Pills, illegal Cigerates and other narcotics. The suspects are between the ages of 18 and 35. They were produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrates Court today (August 20). 15 of them were remanded until Tuesday (August 21) by the Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate Mohammed Mihail while the others were released on bail and on fines.
