President Sirisena arrives at Italy

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Maithripala Sirisena who left for Italy, yesterday (July 14) has arrived at the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome. Issuing a statement, the President's Media Division said that a special group of representatives had welcomed the President at the airport. The Head of State had arrived in Italy to attend the 24th Session of the "Committee on Forestry and World Forest" which was organized in line with the 6th World Forest Week. The session is organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations with the intention of promoting the contribution of forests, in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to deliver a special speech at the session tomorrow. The President will also be undertaking a tour to Georgia from the 17th -19th to attend the Open Government Partnership Global Summit 2018.
