Criminals continue illegal acts while in prison

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The five-member committee, appointed to crack down on organized crimes has submitted their preliminary report to the Presidential Secretariat. A senior official of the STF said an Additional Secretary of the Defense Ministry is serving as the head of the committee. The report reveals that members of organized gangs continue to carry out illegal activities even while in prison. The report notes that a majority of such criminals are incarcerated in the Magazine, Mahara and Welikada prisons. According to the STF, the criminals who have been identified are being scrutinized thoroughly.
