Bail application of President's former Chief of staff and STC Chairman rejected

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - The bail application submitted by Former Chief of staff at the Presidential secretariat Professor I.K. Mahanama and former Chairman of the State Timber Cooperation Piyasena Dissanayake was rejected by the Colombo Chief Magistrates Court today. The two suspects are in remand custody in connection to a charge of accepting a bribe of 20 million rupees. Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake ordered that the suspects be remanded until the 10th of next month. The Chief magistrates also ordered the Prisons Superintendent to direct the two suspects to the government analyst on the 29th of this month to obtain their voice samples.
