26 Chinese nationals without valid visas arrested in Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - 26 Chinese nationals that were in the country without a valid visa were arrested on Tuesday (June 12th). The Department of Immigration and Emigration stated that the group of overstayers was arrested in the Slave Island and Justice Akbar Street areas today (June 12). Investigations revealed that the Chinese nationals had arrived in the island on tourist visas and thereafter overstayed the permitted period. The arrested Chinese Nationals are currently held at the Migrant Detention Center in Mirihana. The Department of Immigration & Emigration said that necessary action will be taken under the Immigration and Emigration Act against these group.
