Professor Rohan Samarajiva appointed as new Chairman of ICTA

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Professor Rohan Samarajiva has been appointed as the Chairman of Information and Communication Technology Agency or ICTA. A new board of directors has also been appointed to the agency. ICTA was established to assist the Cabinet of Ministers in the formulation of the National Policy on ICT and provide all information necessary for its formulation.

Currently, ICTA is overseen by the Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure.

Prof. Samarajiva is incidentally a former Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, who contributed to the design of the E-Sri Lanka initiative that the ICTA implemented from 2003. Professionals with knowledge and expertise in software and business process outsourcing sectors, telecommunications, cyber security, Government and verticals have been appointed to the new board of directors.
