President and PM engage in discussions as SLFP Ministers boycott cabinet meeting

COLOMBO (News 1st) - All Sri Lanka Freedom Party Ministers in Government boycotted today's (April 10) cabinet meeting. Reports suggest that the decision to boycott the cabinet meeting was reached during yesterday's SLFP central committee meeting. The Central Committee meeting took place until almost midnight and the 16 SLFP members who voted for the motion of no-confidence had once again made a request to leave the government. Following the cabinet meeting today, Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera said a cabinet reshuffle will take place before the Sinhala Tamil New Year. The Cabinet meeting took place at the Presidential Secretariat under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. The Prime Minister and the Ministers from the United National Party attended the meeting. After the cabinet meeting, a few of the ministers made statements to the media.
