Steps taken to deploy civil police officers to arrest people for wrongly dispose garbage

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - The Colombo Municipal Council states that it has taken steps to deploy civil police officers in order to arrest persons who wrongly dispose of garbage. Acting Municipal Commissioner Lalith Wickramaratne, said the program was done in agreement with the Police Environment Protection Division. The officials will be deployed from 4 AM to 7 AM in the Colombo Municipal Council limits, Borella, Slave Island and other places identified as areas where garbage was not disposed in the correct manner. The Acting Municipal Council Commissioner said this measure was taken due to an increase in unsegregated garbage.
