COLOMBO (News 1st) – The government of Saudi Arabia has launched a special investigation into the shooting of a Sri Lankan woman in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim, a team of officials from the embassy is scheduled to visit the house in Saudi Arabia, where she was murdered.
Ambassador Thassim further added that arrangements are being made to bring back the remains.
The victim, identified as Priyanka Jayashankar (42), was killed using a hunting gun last Saturday morning (March 17).
The accused of the murder, a Saudi national, committed suicide later by shooting himself. The 30-year-old man was suffering from a psychological disorder, Saudi reports said.
