Facebook ban removed with immediate effect

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Maithripala Sirisena, on his official Twitter account, says he has instructed the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka to remove the temporary ban on Facebook with immediate effect. President Sirena said on his instructions, his secretary Austin Fernando met with Facebook officials who came to the country to discuss removal of the ban, have agreed to ensure the platform will not be used to spread hate speech or incite violence.
