Police curfew lifted in Kandy

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Police curfew which was in effect in the Kandy administrative district, has now been lifted. The Police media unit noted that a peaceful situation is in place at present. President Maithripala Sirisena had instructed the Police and security units to launch an independent and unbiased investigation into the incident which is known to have transpired in Digana, Kandy. The president has also instructed the security personnel to launch a special programme to ensure everyone's security and to work responsibly with all parties to prevent a recurrence.
