Opposition lashes out at President Duterte's war on drugs

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs has claimed around 20,000 lives since he came to power. Accusations of killing drug personalities were thrashed at him by the opposition. President Rodrigo Duterte came to power in 2016. Since then 20,322 individuals have been murdered with related to drug incidents, the Opposition Senate Antonio Trillanes accused. However, the government report states only 3,967 drug personalities have been killed due to resistance on arrests during drug raids which were carried out by the police forces. According to the figures on the same government report, 118,287 individuals were arrested after 2016 and another 1,308,078 have been surrendered to the authorities. Pro government senator condemned the accusations stating that the alleged killings are still being investigated by the government.
