President to hold special meeting with MPs

Special meeting to be held with participation of president

COLOMBO (News1st) : A special meeting is scheduled to take place today, Thursday, February 15, with the participation pf President Maithripala Sirisena, MPs of the United People's Freedom Alliance and the members who won the local government elections, at the President's official residence in Colombo. According to the General Secretary of the UPFA, members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA), Ceylon Workers' Congress and the EPDP who won majority of votes in the recently concluded local government elections, will also participate in the meeting. Minister Susil Premajayantha said, the president is scheduled to make a statement tomorrow, detailing the future course of action the government plans to take. The MPs and Ministers representing the United National Party, met with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees yesterday, to discuss the future course of action that needs to be taken by the government. The SLFP and the UPFA has made a request from President Sirisena yesterday, to establish a new government with a prime minister who commands respect of the people.
