Uva Province Education Secretary Sandya Abanwala, and several others, were present at the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission to provide facts regarding an incident related to the Principal of Badulla Tamil Balika Vidayala being allegedly forced to kneel by the Chief minister.
The recording of facts, which began at 08:30 a.m on Thursday, January 25 morning, lasted for more than twelve hours.
In addition, the Provincial Education Director, Zonal Education Director, OIC of Badulla Police and three workers from the Provincial Council were present at the commission.
The Principal of the Badulla Tamil Balika Vidayala and General Secretary of Ceylon Teachers’ Union Joseph Stalin who lodged the complaint with Human Rights Commission, along with the Executive Director of CaFFE Organisation were also present at the event.
Recently, the Chief Minister at the centre of this incident ,Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, was released by court on a surety bail of Rs.200,000.
The complainant informed court the B report produced by Police over the incident is marred with faults.
