Open your wallet, check all the notes you have in your hand, and also the currency you have at home.
The deadline to hand in any willfully damaged notes is Sunday, December 31, 2017.
As only a few branches are open on Saturday and Sunday, today (Dec. 29) is the day to take these notes to your local branch for replacement.
Willful mutilation, alteration or defacement of currency notes is an offence and is punishable by imprisonment or a fine, or both.
It is announced that banks will not accept such currency notes after December 31, 2017.
Currency notes ought to be taken to the nearest branch of a commercial bank before December 31.
