Over 45,000 Heroin addicts in the country – NDDCB study reveals

‘More than 45,000 people in Sri Lanka are addicted to the use of Heroin’ is a fact revealed by a recent study by the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

According to the Assistant Director of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, Pradeep Kumara, of the total addicts, around 1000 are women, which makes a percentage of 0.5% from the total number of Heroin addict.

Furthermore, the study had found that a majority of the women who use this drug are engaged in solicitation.
