The risk of Dengue is on the cards again with monsoon rains pouring down on several parts of Sri Lanka.

As usual, there are plenty and more locations which have become ideal breeding grounds for dengue, especially in jam-packed urban streets.

What are the relevant authorities doing about it? – well, nothing yet.

The Sri Maha Bodhi road, Dehiwala is one such road which has clogged drains which could increase the dengue risk in the vicinity. Whats more important is that this road is home to Alethea International School.

While that is happening, the Dehiwala Urban Council is nowhere to be found.

The students of Alethea International School however, noticed whats gone unnoticed by the Dehiwala Urban Council. And they decided to take action, rather than say ‘That’s not my job’.

The students of Alethea International took it upon themselves to conduct a Dengue Eradication campaign in Sri Maha Bodhi road.

They decided to sacrifice their Saturday for the benefit of everyone else, and took up the task of cleaning up the garbage and the clogged up drains.

Following footage is of these students in action;
