A MI-17 helicopter belonging to the Sri Lankan Air Force has reportedly crashed in Baddegama, Galle.
Eleven Air force personnel were onboard the helicopter at the time of the crash.
However, the pilot of the helicopter was able to crash-land the helicopter and ensure that all personnel onboard were unharmed.
No casualties have been reported.
This situation was confirmed to Newsfirst by the Civil Aviation Authority.
“A technical fault had arisen when they were preparing to lower the cable while hovering. The helicopter cannot be flown elsewhere in such a situation, so it had to land as soon as possible”, said the SLAF Commander, “There was no area to land because the entire area was flooded. So our pilot made the correct decision to make a controlled forced landing”.
