“Aluth Sahal Mangalya” held under auspices of President Sirisena

The “Aluth Sahal Mangalya”, was held at the historical sacred Gal Vihara  under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena on the morning of April 10.

The President engaged in religious observances including washing the sacred feet of the reclining Buddha statute and offering of Pirikara.

Later on, the President offered the inaugural harvest of his paddy field at the Laksha Uyana village of the Parakrama Samudraya movement to the Buddha statue.

The President met and engaged in talks with the farmers who were attending the  “Aluth Sahal Mangalya”. On the request of a girl who was hearing impaired, present at the gathering, the President pledged to provide all facilities to continue her education.

Later, President Sirisena arrived at the vicinity of Parakrama Samudraya and had a cordial conversation with the people who were making arrangements to celebrate the Sinhala New Year.
