Sri Lanka and Indonesia inked two Memorandums of Understanding today, March 08.
President Maithripala Sirisena, who is on a state visit to Indonesia to attend the Indian Ocean Rim Association Leaders’ Summit, met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, today, March 08.
The Indonesian President warmly welcomed President Sirisena with a colourful ceremony, and a twenty-one Gun Salute was accorded to His Excellency.The two leaders held discussions regarding collectively working on strengthening regional security.
According to the President’s Media Division, attention was also drawn to the proposal for a free trade agreement between the two countries.The President further stated that opportunities for Indonesian private and government investors could be opened adding that the government is ready to provide required tax reliefs for them.
President Sirisena invited the Indonesian President for an official visit to Sri Lanka.
Two agreements on maritime and fishing cooperation and the cooperation on traditional industries were signed in the presence of the two leaders.
