A decision has been reached to suspend the parliamentary activities of MP Dinesh Gunawardena for a period of a week.
This decision was made following the Speaker of Parliament inquiring into the opinion of the parliament following the tense situations that were reported in parliament throughout the day.
Eighty-five parliamentarians voted in favour of the suspension, while twenty-two voted against it. Hundred and fourteen members of parliament did not attend the vote.
Members of the JVP abstained from the vote.
