President declares open hostel for Buddhist monks in Narahenpita

President Maithripala Sirisena attended a special religious function at the Dharmayathana Viharaya in Narahenpita.

A hostel for Buddhist monks and hall for giving alms were declared open by President Maitiripala Sirisena at the temple on Monday, October 24.

Venerable Ulapane Sumangala Thero and number of other members from the Maha Sanga were present at the occasion.

The president said, there are many unethical practices that attempt to sneak into our society under the guise of the technology, and the fast paced development that is taking place. The President pointed out and that one aspect of a developed society is the awareness on the dangers of drugs.

He went on to note, as a Buddhist society and as a religious society, it falls on us to rescue people from such social dangers.
