Declaring open the Maha Oya Water Supply Project, the president elaborated on a statement that he made recently.
The president said that criticism has been levelled against him for a statement that he made recently at the Foundation Institute.
Criticism has been leveled against me for a statement that I made recently at the Foundation Institute. ‘ I wish to ask you, did you have the ability to criticise the President let alone have privilege of speaking to a president in that manner prior to the 8th of January 2015? Were you able to use such language and words at that time? If you did so, you would be rewarded with a the ride in a white van in just 24 hours. That is the truth. There was a time where you could not speak properly over the phone due to fears of wire-tapping. ”
The president pointed out that they brought an end to such an era and a society where the right to live was taken away, adding that persons who are leveling criticism and allegations have not clearly understood matters.
He went onto note that as the president he will never be biased and will take an unbiased and neutral stand and will continue to work on that policy.
” Therefore all institutions in the country must operate in an unbiased and independent manner …” said President Sirisena.
The water project which was initiated by the Ministry of City Planning and Water Supply with funding from JAICA, will provide clean drinking water to over 14,000 persons across nine Grama Seva Jurisdiction in the Maha Oya Zone.
The President also declared open the Rideemaliyadda Water Project in Mahiyanganaya today, Wednesday, October 19.
