Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa appeared before the Colombo High Court on Wednesday October 19, over a case pertaining to Divi Neguma funds.
The case against former minister Basil Rajapaksa and three others, pertaining to five indictments including the misappropriation of Divi Neguma funds amounting to Rs.33 million, was taken before the Colombo High Court Judge N.V. Karunatileke on Wednesday.
While the indictments were read out in open court, the respondents pleaded not guilty after which the case was postponed to March 15, next year.
Former Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development Dr. Nihal Jayatileke, Former Director General of the Department of Divi Neguma Development Kithsiri Ranawaka and Former Deputy Director General K.A. Thilakasiri are the respondents to the case.
While leaving the court premises, Basil Rajapaksa met former minister Tissa Attanayake who had also appeared before the High Court.
Tissa Attanayake was remanded until December 5, on charges of forging documents and causing disharmony among communities, under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights or ICCPR Act.
