A 670 kilometre walk from Point Pedro in Jaffna to Dondra Head in Matara, commenced today with the aim of raising funds to expand the oncology unit at the Karapitiya Hospital in Galle.

A sequel to the 2011 Trail SL, the same walk in the opposite direction, that raised funds for the construction of the Trail Tellippalai Cancer Hospital in Jaffna, this year’s walk will span 28 days, covering 28 townships from Jaffna to Matara, with a host of celebrities joining the walk.

Trail which is themed Walk. Unite. Heal aims in raising USD 5 million to build a cancer treatment facility as part of an extension of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle.

Brand ambassadors Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene were among those present for the inauguration today.

The walk will travel across nine zones during the 28 days and will end on November 2, at the Dondra Light House.
