Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg and his wife Priscilla Chan have pledged $3bn for medical research funding over the next decade.

They have stated that their ultimate goal “cure, prevent or manage all diseases by the end of the century” conference in San Francisco

The Facebook creator and spouse are not the only tech-leaders turning their attention to health with Microsoft stating it intended to ‘solve’ cancer by using artificial intelligence tools, earlier during the week while Google’s DeepMind unit has been working with NHS to find a way to use computers to more accurately diagnose diseases. IBM and MIT have also announced a tie-up earlier this week to develop AI-based systems that could help clinicians improve the care of elderly and disabled patients.
