Gammedda 100-Days Initiative sees fresh water spring forth for Thanamalwila residents

The drinking water project that commenced under the News 1st Gammedda 100-Days Initiative for the people in Hambegamuwa, Thanamalwila was vested with the public on Friday. The event was held under the auspices of the Director of the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Diseases Asela Iddawela.

Starting today, the people will benefit with a permanent supply of clean drinking water instead of the brackish water they have been consuming for decades, under this project.

As the area mostly consisted of brackish water, many of those who receive their education at this school had fallen victim to kidney diseases. The News 1st 100 Day Initiative to provide clean drinking water to these people was supported by the Maliban Kiri Abhaya Dana Project.

Starting today, the people of Hambegamuwa will experience the taste of clean water. Another project was launched at the Isinbessa-gala Pre-School in Medawachchiya on Friday August 12, to provide sanitation facilities to the students.

Several News 1st members were present for the event.
