Imagine spending a day without water.Imagine the trouble that you would have to go through if the water supply to your home was disrupted for a whole day.

The people of Thanamalwila who were inconvenienced with the lack of drinking water for many long years, have been given an opportunity to receive water through the Gammedda 100-day project.

A project commenced to give 80 families of Thanamalwila, Monaragala access to clean drinking water.

Around 5000 fishermen who live within close proximity to the estuary area in the Chilaw Fisheries Harbour were severely inconvenienced owing to the absence of a light post at the harbour.

News 1st commenced activities on Wednesday to fulfill their need through the Gammedda 100-days initiative.

Meanwhile, reconstruction work on a stretch of road from Damanayaya junction to Alakolawewa along the Wewela road in Dambulla which was not refurbished for over two decades is also underway through the Gammedda 100- days initiative.

The projects which got underway to provide clean drinking water for the students of the Kilinochchi Periya Parandan Tamil Vidhayala and for the people of Borala, Weligama are also underway.

These are a few more issues that we hope to resolve through the Gammedda 100 day initiative.

  • Reconstruction work on a roof of a building in the Mahasen Primary school in Aththanakadawala Yaya is yet to commence.

  • The installation  of an irrigation system to facilitate the flow of water for the 250 acre farmland in Katukeliyawa Anuradhapura is among many projects that need your invaluable assistance.
  • The fourth project that requires immediate attention is the installation of an elephant fence for the 300 families which lead unsafe lives in Pulipayindal, Batticaloa.
