Speaking at an event in held in Puttalam, President Maithripala Sirisena says the National Drugs Prevention Programme, will take on a new phase next year.
The seventh phase of the National Drugs Prevention Programme was held under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Ananda National School Grounds in Puttalam on Monday.
President Sirisena noted that the role of the programme is to bring fourth exemplary politicians to the society as he looks forward to further strength the work carried out by the police, tri-forces, Excise Department.
The president presented awards for individuals who extended their support in helping to eradicate drugs from the Puttalam District. A memorandum containing 1000 signatures pledging to refrain from abusing drugs was presented to the President.
